Welcome to the exciting world of the American Bobtail!! NiteSongs Cattery resides just a few miles from the Tenn. and Buffalo Rivers in scenic southern middle Tn. We are a small cattery devoted to breeding for excellent type and loving purrsonalities in all our cats and kittens.
The American Bobtail has been in existence for many years and is a perfect example of a breed developed by natural selection. They are a medium to large cat with a long rectangular body, with the appearance of being stocky and well muscled. The American Bobtail possesses a broad m modified wedge shaped head, with a distinctive brow above almost almond shaped eyes, which gives the cat a natural hunting gaze. This gives the American Bobtail a well deserved look of intelligence and alertness. Ear furnishings and lynx tipping are highly desirable in all coat length, with mutton chops on the longer coated cats. The tail should be clearly visible above the back and ideally reach no longer than the hock in length. Due to the size and boning of this breed it can take up to 3 yrs to reach full maturity. The American Bobtail with it's rolling gate and combined features should give the appearance of a bobtailed wildcat, even though there is no wild heritage in their backgrounds.
If you are looking for a cat with a loving, loyal personality, highly intelligent, gentle, loyal, playful and uniquely beautiful, then the American Bobtail is for you! Please feel free to contract me with any questions via email, or you may call during the mornings after 9 am central time at 931-722-6981.
